The center's Core Laboratory is designed to provide specialized laboratory support for
approved GCRC protocols.
Services available are:
* Performance of Radio-immuno-assay or
ELISA assays (by commercial kit only) * EB virus transformation of B-lymphocytes * Long term storage of transformed cells * Sample processing for investigators' research
(upon special arrangement) * Short term storage of samples at -20 * The University DNA extraction core facility is currently being consolidated with the GCRC Core
Laboratory.
In addition to these services, the Core Laboratory has available for use by its investigators the
following equipment:
1.Gamma counter 2.Optical density plate reader
3.Refrigerated Centrifuge 4.Non-refrigerated centrifuges
RIA and Elisa assays are run in batches when
enough samples have been collected to utilize a complete kit. This is usually between 35 and 40 samples in addition to a standard curve and appropriate controls. Services desired and
equipment use should be clearly stated when submitting research protocols. |
